The nursing council has a major role to play in the future of Pakistan. It is expected that within a few years the country will be able to construct and establish itself as a developed nation, which has one of the best nursing programs in Asia. However, at the present time there are a few problems with regards to the nursing education sector in Pakistan. In fact, the nursing education sector in Pakistan has been hit by a series of setbacks, and there are a number of problems with regards to the teaching methods employed. As a result, the students who are enrolled in these programs lack interest and ultimately drop out. This is the reason as to why the nursing council has decided to take the necessary steps to improve upon the situation.
A number of educational institutes are under the supervision of the council. These institutes offer medical courses and nursing courses. However, the main problem is that they do not provide the necessary academic qualification, as required by the government of Pakistan. Also the medical institutions do not have the capacity to accommodate huge numbers of students. The council has therefore decided to introduce the medical entrance examination test for all the students who wish to get into a nursing program in Pakistan.
The criteria which have been introduced by the council are primarily aimed at improving the conditions of the students. In the recent past there was an increase in the ratio of medical negligence cases. This meant that more students were falling victim to this disorder. Furthermore, it also meant that the students from poor backgrounds were unable to get into the medical schools. At present, the medical entrance examination for Pakistani students is not as tough as it used to be. This means that the students are now applying to medical schools in Pakistan with more confidence.
Furthermore, under the current scenario, the medical entrance exam is a comprehensive test. Before it can be conducted by the council takes into consideration the academic qualifications, professional experience, clinical competence and other such factors. Only after the medical council has concluded its evaluation, it can formally approve any given medical program approved by the government.
There are two types of nursing programs, namely, public and private. In case of public programs, both male and female students will be allowed to join. The cost of the program does not matter. However, the selection of school is important. The students who get admission are required to appear in one nursing course or else they will be disqualified from the program.
A certificate is required from every student who wishes to pursue his nursing career in Pakistan. These certificates are issued after the completion of a specific exam. Once the exam is conducted the results are sent to the concerned college. The fee structure varies from college to college. The rates are generally low.
It is necessary to take into account the duration of the course. Some colleges offer full time nursing course while some may only provide part-time course. Full time courses are generally recognized by foreign navigate here universities and colleges. Part time courses are suitable for students who wish to pursue their nursing career immediately. On the other hand, part-time nursing programs are ideal for students who need to complete their studies with a view to entering a nursing profession in Pakistan.
After getting a council certification, you will have to register with the council to start your nursing career. If you are selected for a nursing program approved by the council, then you will receive the certification. The process of registration involves completing an application form and paying a fee.
